About the event

Join me for a very special 'day at the seaside' themed tasting menu with wine pairings, in collaboration with The Terrace Rooms & Wine in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight.

Named by The Times as one of the 10 most romantic boltholes in the UK and listed in their top 100 places to stay, The Terrace opened in 2022 and enjoys a magnificent position overlooking the English Channel. Completely renovated by owners Tom and Ashley, the former Victorian rectory is now a gorgeous six bed guest house with an award-winning wine room boasting over 700 carefully curated wines from around the world. Open throughout the day to non-residents, the Terrace runs a daily wine tasting every evening for residents and pre-booked guests, as well as wines being available to purchase in their wine shop.

I'm beyond excited to be working with Tom and Ashley to offer an exclusive afternoon dining experience for just 20 guests, with a playful seven course tasting menu designed to evoke memories of a traditional day at the seaside, whilst the accompanying wines from around the world are all made in locations by the sea.

The dining experience will be hosted in the Terrace's gorgeous beach front orangerie overlooking the sea - dependent on the weather, we may have the glass doors fully open to enjoy the sun! 

The Menu


Green tea and lime palate cleanser


Buckwheat crêpe, egg, puffed buckwheat, caviar 

Pairing: Bodega Luis Pérez La Escribana 2020, Jerez


Champagne curry, monkfish, pea, malt vinegar 

Pairing: Matawhero Nelson Pinot Gris 2022, New Zealand


Poached mackerel, tomato, dashi 

Pairing: Gaintza Txakoli Roses 2021, Basque Country


Scallop, burnt aubergine, pork belly, fermented grains 

Pairing: Listán Blanco Artifice 2021, Tenerife


Braised lamb, carrot, sheep’s milk yoghurt 

Pairing: Diamantakis Petali Liatiko 2019, Crete


Raspberry, vanilla, meringue, feuilles de brique, chocolate, sea salt 

Pairing: Cuvée Thérèse Reig Banyuls 2020, Languedoc-Roussillon

Dine and stay

The Terrace is offering a 10% room discount to diners booking two or more tickets who would like to stay the night - please contact them directly if you would like to book one of their gorgeous rooms. Heartily recommended!

For diners travelling from elsewhere on the island please let me know if you would be interested in taxi sharing options with fellow diners and I will try and co-ordinate where possible.

*Please note, while I can accommodate most dietaries when notified in advance, this is a no-choice menu and I cannot adapt for vegan or dairy-free, it is simply impossible for one cook!
